Hydrow Wave vs NordicTrack RW900

Both of these are screen-first connected rowers, and both are good, but they optimize for different things. The Hydrow Wave is narrow, near-silent and filmed on real water. The NordicTrack RW900 has the biggest screen in this comparison and a cheaper membership. Which wins depends on your room and your budget more than on the rowing.

The membership and the five-year cost

NordicTrack’s iFIT is $39/month; Hydrow’s membership is $50/month, or about $38/month prepaid annually. Over five years that is roughly $2,340 for the RW900 against $3,000 for the Hydrow at the monthly rate — a real gap, though smaller than the one between Hydrow and the cheapest connected memberships. Footprint and noise

This is where the Hydrow earns its price. The Wave is just 19 inches wide — the narrowest serious connected rower there is — and its electromagnetic resistance is near-silent. The RW900 is 22 inches wide and, at 24 inches, taller with the screen up. If your machine has to fit a narrow spare room or you row while others sleep, the Wave is the answer. Screen and features

The RW900’s 24-inch pivoting screen is bigger than the Wave’s 16-inch panel and turns to face the floor for off-rower classes, and iFIT’s library extends well beyond rowing. If the screen and a broad class catalog are the point, the RW900 leads. If beautiful real-water rows and a quiet, narrow machine are the point, the Hydrow does.

The honest recommendation

Choose the Hydrow Wave if footprint and quiet matter, or the real-water class style appeals, and the higher membership does not deter you. Choose the NordicTrack RW900 if you want the biggest screen, a cheaper membership and a wider class library. And if the recurring cost is what gives you pause, a subscription-free machine costs far less over five years.
