Row & Recover

How we are funded

Affiliate disclosure

In plain English: we earn a commission on some links, you pay the same price, and it does not change what we recommend.

The short version

Row & Recover is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

If you click a buy button here and purchase something, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay exactly the same price. There is no markup, no surcharge, and no difference to you whatsoever.

How the links work

Every buy button on this site points at a link of the form /go/<machine> on our own domain, which then forwards you to Amazon with our Associates tag attached. That indirection exists so that if we ever switch a product to a different retailer, it is a one-line configuration change rather than an edit to forty pages.

Every one of those links carries rel="sponsored nofollow noopener", which is what Google’s link-spam policy requires of a monetized link, and opens in a new tab. Our Associates tag is t5fitness-20.

The /go/ path is excluded from search engines in our robots.txt and carries a noindex header, so these links are never crawled or indexed.

What we do not do

  • No sponsored placements. No brand has paid for a position on any page, and none ever will.
  • No paid rankings. The order of every roundup is editorial. It is not for sale.
  • No free product. We have never accepted a machine, a sample or a loan from any manufacturer.
  • No advertorial. Nothing here is written by or with a brand.

Why you can check that, rather than take our word

Two things on this site would make no commercial sense if commission were driving the recommendations.

First: we cover 3machines that earn us nothing at all — the Peloton Row, the Ergatta Rower and the Rogue Echo Rower. All are sold direct only, none has an Amazon listing, and none carries a buy button here. They are covered because leaving them out would make the comparisons worse.

Second:every machine on the site — including the ones at the top of every roundup — carries a “skip this one if” line written to be genuinely disqualifying. A site optimizing for commission does not tell you not to buy things.

Prices

Every price shown here comes from a live Amazon feed and carries the date it was captured. Amazon prices change frequently and without notice, so the price you see on Amazon at checkout is the price that applies — not the one on our page.

Prices on this site expire automatically after 48 hours. If our feed stops running, every number disappears and the buttons revert to “Check price” rather than showing you something stale. That is deliberate and it is documented.

Coverage

Which links earn us anything

Of the 30 machines on this site, 27 are sold on Amazon and carry an affiliate link. The remaining 3 are sold direct only and earn us nothing.

We are not currently part of any other affiliate network for this category. If that changes — if we join a brand-direct or network program for a rowing manufacturer — this page will say so before any such link goes live, and those links will be disclosed the same way.

Links to manufacturers’ own specification pages, to news reports and to other publishers are ordinary editorial links. We earn nothing from them and they carry no tracking.

FTC

Why this page exists

The US Federal Trade Commission requires that a material connection between a publisher and the products it recommends is disclosed clearly and conspicuously. An affiliate commission is a material connection.

So beyond this page, you will find a short disclosure next to the byline on every page that carries a money link, an #admarker under every buy button, and a standing line in the footer of every page on the site. That is more than the minimum, deliberately — a disclosure a reader has to hunt for is not a disclosure.
