Hydrow vs Peloton Row

This is the matchup at the top of the connected-rower market: Hydrow’s water-filmed classes against Peloton’s production quality and Form Assist coaching. Both are excellent at getting people to row. Both attach a membership that costs more over five years than most rowing machines cost outright.

One practical difference decides how we can cover them: the Hydrow Wave is sold on Amazon with a live price, and the Peloton Row is sold direct only. The memberships, side by side

Hydrow’s membership is $50/month, or about $38/month prepaid annually. Peloton’s All-Access Membership rose to $49.99/month in October 2025. Over five years, either one adds roughly $2,300 to $3,000 on top of the hardware — and on both machines the screen is the interface, so cancelling leaves you with a heavy magnetic rower and a dark panel. Where each one leads

Peloton is the production and coaching benchmark. Its Form Assist feature genuinely coaches stroke mechanics, which almost nothing else in the category attempts, and the instruction quality is the reason people stay subscribed.

Hydrowfilms its rows on real water with athletes who row for a living, and the Wave is unusually narrow at 19 inches — it fits rooms a wider machine does not. That width is why it appears in our apartment picks.

The honest recommendation

If the coaching is the entire reason you are buying, Peloton is the stronger product — but you buy it direct, at full membership price, with no price competition. If you want a comparable class experience you can actually purchase today, the Hydrow Wave is the pick, and it is narrower into the bargain. And if you are not certain you will use classes at all, a Concept2 costs thousands less over five years.
